In pursuit of a cure…the gift of life
Of the 30 staff in the XL Sydney office, seven have volunteered for an epic cycle from Canberra to Sydney to be conducted over two days in order to raise funds for OCF. Of the seven volunteers, only one has previous cycling experience. As you could imagine the commitment involved in getting ready for such a journey is significant, each rider has agreed to undertake a 6 month training program that will require a major commitment outside of work hours.
The route is over approximately 325 kilometres, leaving Canberra on May 20th via:
Canberra
Goulburn
Berrima (stay overnight)
Camden
The Children's Hospital at Westmead, Sydney (May 21st)
The seven cyclists will be required to cycle approx. 195km over the first day stopping overnight in Berrima and 130kms on the second and final day.
A team from the Sydney office will follow the cyclists providing logistical and moral support. The remaining XL employees will play vital roles in the planning, fund raising, monitoring and communications required in undertaking such a significant and inspiring task.
Meanwhile back at the office, twenty four employees will be learning how to make balloon animals, do card tricks and slight of hand tricks – sounds very magical!! Once the cyclists arrive at Westmead, they will delight their audience of kids, parents and cyclists out at the Children’s Hospital at Westmead, with a wonderful magical show.
It is an undertaking which we hope will motivate our corporate partners to support such a worthy cause.
We thank you in advance for your support. |
